Problems with dsl?

Hey I am currently one of those upset dial-up users. A couple months ago I received a post in the mail stating that there was not dsl available in my area. Being a procrastinator we haven't called yet. I am hesitant though because last time we were told we could get DSL it didn't work out. In fact they told us that they would survey our area to verify and then send us the equipment if all was ok, but we never received the equpiment. Granted this is a new dsl company that sent us the mail, and I have seen several SBC vans driving around our area the past few months. I guess my question is if anyone has had this happen to them before? and Do you think that this is going to be another upset or for real?

Problems with dsl?
Never heard of that exact issue. I had people come to my door asking if i wanted DSL, but when they checked, it wasn't available yet.

I have cable modem - its the only way to go. It's MUCH faster and more reliable. (We have DSL at work %26amp; it s^cks)
Reply:no clue.
Reply:I don't know about SBC DSL, I have Verizon and have been happy with it since upgrading from dial-up a few years ago.

I get 1.5MB of download which is a heck of a lot better than the 56 Kbps you get with dial-up.

It shouldn't cost you more than $20-30 (plus initial charge for the modem) per month so be careful you don't get ripped off but the bottom line, anything is better than dial-up.

You might be able to get Verizon (don't know about your area).
